Lincolnshire Group – January Report 2026

Xmas Luncheon at The Generous Briton, Brant Broughton

This was our second year of dining at this pub, the food and service were excellent, & the “Secret Santa” presents were all well received. Thirty two attended with only Ian Bancroft succumbing to the dreadful flu that has been doing the rounds.

In the picture below you can see Howard Pell at the bar, he and Rosemary turned up and were greeted by all, then the penny dropped that they had the date in Howard’s diary but had not booked!!. Fortunately, they were able to eat scampi & chips whilst sitting on stools at the bar. I am glad I am not the only one to have a senior moments!

Dave Wilcox Memorial Trial

A super post Xmas event with 47 cars taking part, one of which was a De Dion Bouton which despite is size did extremely well.

As usual there were a lot of young drivers & Zoe Duffin had her photo in the Daily Telegraph [ find further photos and video on the Lincs. Club Website ].

Unfortunately, our Club car sustained a broken front brake cable very early on & had to withdraw.

Grateful thanks must go to the Lincs. Group members who worked so hard on your behalf setting the course up the day beforehand & managing the whole event so efficiently.

AGM

After giving two years notice that I wished to relinquish my role but stay on the committee, nobody has come forward!... Therefore myself and the committee were returned en bloc.

2025 had some excellent car events that were all well supported & we have an excellent calendar for 2026. However, the downside for me was the poor attendance at our monthly Wednesday speaker evenings. As a committee we put a lot of time and effort into arranging and paying for these speakers to come and talk to us, it is very embarrassing when we have a poor turn out - "New year resolution to “self” – Please make every effort to attend.

At the conclusion of the AGM Sue & I each received surprise presentations of gifts from the members, thanking us for our endeavours over the years, we were extremely touched and taken aback.

This was followed by a talk from one of our regular speakers, Chris Ferris , on “ A Pictorial Tour of Bygone Lincoln”. It proved to be highly informative and was very well received by all 25 members who were in attendance.

Birthday Boy - Peter Davis, one of the Lincs group stalwarts of the Club, had his 90th birthday in January. He has not been well of late & in hospital. We send him all best wishes for 2026.

Please make every effort to support our 2026 calendar
