Lincolnshire Group – April Report 2026
Sevens to the Sea
Once again a great event enjoyed by all, fifty seven cars entered, the
Lincolnshire weather was perfect. Only one head gasket breakdown ( On an
Austin 12 !!! ). Heather & Kurt’s Austin van looked like a Stanley Steamer on
arrival at the Woodcock but did make it all the way around the 99 mile route.
Below are my Opening Remarks from the Sunday evening dinner at the
Kingsway Hotel:-
“ Welcome to the 21st Sevens to the Sea, especially to some of you who have
never entered this event before. Penny Cawley & David Arme withdrew due to
illness, we wish them a speedy recovery.
If you like our runs why not enter our May Meander on Sunday 17th May, entry forms are on our website.
Later I shall ask our national Chairman to say a few words and to give a “plug’
for our national rally at Stonehurst, late May bank holiday and I shall then ask
David Lucas to conclude the raffle.
The Committee work hard to stage this event & I must make particular
mention of Paddy & Ande Malone for the route and to David Lucas for always
sorting out the Cleethorpes end with N.E. Lincs Council.
One person who is missing is our Austin Seven legend Ron Low. He passed away
at the age of 99. He drove his Pearl to every one of these events up to the age of
97. Most of you will know that that Ron made an aluminium lidded Pie
Warmer to sit on top of the manifold. In here he placed two pork pies for he
and Jo to enjoy piping hot at their first stop! He was an inspiration to us all and
in his memory we have inaugurated a “Long Distance Award “ ( designed and
made by Lincs. A7 member Gerry Cock ). This first year it goes to new entrant
Derek Sparks who travelled 130 miles to the start of this event.
Congratulations. “
There are lots more photos and video of the event both on our website and on Facebook.

Please make every effort to support our 2026 calendar - please see the events page...
