August Report - 2026

New Lincs Group Secretary required

In 2024 I gave 2 years notice that after 15 years I wished to relinquish my post and asking for someone to step forward. However, no one did and I have carried on during 2026. In January 2027 I will be 80 years old and am definitely resigning my role. I have put a “Job Description” of my role on our Lincolnshire web page, please look and direct any questions to me. I am willing to continue organising  both the Sevens to the Sea and the annual Garden Party, also storage of our A7 assets at my property this is not an issue. You do not need to be retired to carry out this role and you will have my full support during the early days.

Lincolnshire Classic Motor Show - 19th July 2026

The Lincolnshire Group Austin Seven Club were delighted to attend the inaugural Lincolnshire Classic Motor Show at the Lincolnshire Showground on 19th July. As this was a new event for both the organisers and ourselves, we were unsure what to expect, but it proved to be an outstanding success.

The club was allocated an excellent display position, allowing us to showcase eleven Austin Sevens throughout the day. Visitor numbers were impressive, and there was a constant stream of people stopping to admire the cars, ask questions, and share their own memories of Austin Sevens.

The event offered something for everyone, with live music, a wide variety of stalls, excellent food vendors, rally driving demonstrations, and plenty of attractions for younger visitors.

Our thanks go to Nigel Snow and his wife Pauline for organising the event and to everyone who brought along their cars and helped represent the club so enthusiastically. 

To end the day on a special note we won the shows award for “Best Club Stand”…

Cumbria / Kelso Run.

This was organised by the Yorks. Gp. and we had a splendid time. Lovely hotels, superb scenery & 642 trouble free miles travelled. The two-night stay in Kelso really whetted our appetite to enter again next year.

Classic Cars at West Ashby

"Motorcars at the Manor", West Ashby was a new event for us and gave us the opportunity to study nearly 200 interesting cars  gathered in the stunning grounds of West Ashby Manor, parked by the private lake, whilst their owners basked in glorious sunshine yarning about their cherished chariots. Over 50% of the splendid array comprised  Veteran, Edwardian, Vintage and pre-war cars, although very few Sevens were in evidence. Rolls Royce, Alvis, Riley and Ford Model T's were out in force together with Armstrong Siddeley, Singer, Talbot, Bentley, Sunbeam, Rover, MG, Morris and the larger Austins, not forgetting the curved dash Oldsmobile - The list is long!

The post war cars sported equal diversity with many rare and interesting cars to admire. Although not of our era it is sobering to reflect that some of these are now 80 years old - |Crikey! One lovely feature was the vintage pedal tricycle ice cream cart peddling (Or was it pedalling?) delicious and generously filled cones for very modest prices. Overall, a very relaxing day spent with kindred spirits raising significant funds for charity. Can we recommend it?  Yes. Will we go again next year, even if only for the ice cream?  Certainly!
